We had a fun, low-key, pleasant day. I decided not to do a big party this year for her, and instead just do some special things throughout the day.
I started the morning by taking her to breakfast at Cracker Barrell. Rosie shares her birthday with Jennifer's son Ethan, and this year it totally worked out that we could get together for breakfast at one of our favorite places.
After breakfast we came home and my mom came over to visit. While the girls watched a Tinkerbell movie, my mom and I set up a tea party lunch. It turned out cute! We made (or bought) heart shaped pb&j, chocolate dipped pretzels, fruit, petit fours, chocolate dipped strawberries and a cupcake for the birthday girl. My sister-in-law got to join us and it was lovely.
Rosie has been saving up for awhile to get a new bike, and after she opened one of her birthday cards she had enough. We went to the store right after lunch to get her new bike!
We finished the day by eating dinner at Steak & Shake and having cake and ice cream at the house with grandparents.
When Rosie woke up on her birthday, we spent some time together praying and reading the Bible. I prayed this passage over her, knowing that she is a light in my world. I pray that she always walks with the Lord and that her life is a testament to his goodness.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
Matthew 5:14-16Happy Birthday, Rosie!!
