First Day of "Summer"

The month of May will totally be a time of transition in my life, but as far as homeschooling we technically had our last day of school on Friday. We celebrated by spending the day at Six Flags. My girls went on roller coasters for the first time and we had such a good time.

Rachel is done with Math, Geography, Science, Art and Music. She is not done with LA, but I'm going to let her work on that at her own pace. She still struggles terribly in LA, so the longer it takes her to do that book, the better.

We had a great year. I'm looking ahead to next year and consuming myself with curriculum thoughts.

Rosie will be in school until May 21 and we still have lessons of all sorts in the afternoons. And it's not really summer till the pool is open.

So what did with my time on my 1st day off from teaching? I played tennis with Rachel, had a 30 minute quiet time, got breakfast dishes done before 10:30 am, washed at least four loads of laundry, went to the grocery store and made freezer meals. All before lunch! It feels good to get caught up on some stuff. But I pray I will not lose motivation. I made a to-do list today and that seemed to help, but sometimes it doesn't. So I wonder, how do you stay on task? What time management tricks do you use?

I wake up at 5:45 or 6. That seems to be the only thing that helps me get it all done!

Girl, I have learned that I am not self-disciplined enough to homeschool. I love to read how you stick to a schedule.
